Pertex Quantum Nano Ripstop .9oz/yd
We use this version of Pertex Quantum for the shell on our bivy sacks. Slightly heavier than the fabric we use on our sleeping bags, it has increased abrasion resistance and tear strength. The excellent DWR treatment ensures long lasting weather resistance while maintaining excellent breathability.
CORDURA® Silnylon 1.4oz/yd
Our CORDURA® Silnylon is a 30 denier high tenacity nylon ripstop that has been double coated with silicone. This silicone impregnation creates a fabric waterproof to 2 psi, as well as increasing its tear strength. With a finished weight of only 1.4oz/yd this fabric is very strong for its weight, perfect for the floor of our lightweight bivys. The use of the highest quality materials rank the Bristlecone among the best bivys for sale today.

Very satisfied after spending 4 consecutive nights in it. I didn’t experience any rain but I am guessing I will need to use a tarp to stay dry in those situations, particularly over the face.

Love the details. This bivy is perfect, paired with my dcf tarp in the backcountry. The pertex breaths amazingly well. No condensation issues.

Used this for the first time for a 5 night walk. The bivy is very well made with great materials. It did the job i wanted it to: keeping the mozzies away and adding to the warmth so i fould carry a lighter quilt. It did slide around on the tyvek, and my mattress slid around inside. Next time I’ll be staking the bivy and anchoring the mattress to the anchor points inside the bivy.

The design is very good and the materials are great. The only critique I have is that the material slides very easily on tyvek if you are on any sort of slope. This can be remedied by staking the bivy well but just something to keep in mind if you use it with a tyvek ground cloth. Katabatic is a fantastic brand and I’m very happy with everything I’ve bought from them so far.

It’s dope…..

If you are looking for a bivy that is extremely compact and light weight, and very well made, this is the one.

This is an awesome UL bivy. I’ve used it for years and love the protection it provides my down bag under a tarp. The materials and construction are very high quality. My only complaint is that the zipper often gets snagged in the hang loop near my head. Great job KG!

This bivy is well made and designed except for one thing. The zipper goes across the top of the head and when I compared it with a similar bivy that has the zipper going across your chin that was a much better design. It makes it easier to zip open and closed and when you are not using the netting which is most of the time for me it will stay under your head. With the Katabatic design the netting want to flip back over your head as you move around. Also didn’t like that they sewed tabs on through the floor to connect to a pad or bag. Apart from that the design and craftsmanship is excellent but the design flaw was a deal breaker for me and I returned it.
