Exactly what I was looking for 👀👀👀

After looking a ton of reviews on Quilts, I chose the Chisos 40 degree for early season hunts. I love my WM badger 15 but think this will be replacing it in my pack for a long time to come. The pad attachment system is the best I’ve found.

Great Quilt for Bikepacking

I bought the 30F Palisade quilt for a 5-day bikepacking trip in Scotland. The weather was damp and cold, with lows around 40 degrees. The quilt worked perfectly, and the attachments to the sleeping pad allowed me to effectively adjust the quilt for comfort. The attachments also kept the quilt firmly attached to the sleeping pad. Great, well made product! I can't wait to use it for my next trip.

Great quality quilt.

Great warmth for weight. Very high quality stitching. Good attachment system. Very packable. Best quilt I've owned. Used a lot in the spring and have been very comfortable. Looking forward to taking this back out again when it gets a bit cooler again in the fall. If you plan to use this as a summer quilt as well, I would suggest the flex version instead, but it's perfect for my uses.

Surprised me.

Excellent piece! I picked it up out of curiosity when I ordered a quilt. It vastly exceeded my expectations on a recent AZT long section. I put it in my pack as an afterthought and ended up using it every day. It disappears into my fanny pack. It got worn as a sleep shirt, a cool morning wind layer, and town clothes while other things were in the wash on a resupply. Pleasantly surprised!

Wow Amazing Product!

I bought this as a reward for paying off my car. I am very money conscientious and this was no small purchase for me; however, I have been carrying a giant synthetic zero-degree bag for backpacking. Although I had become stronger because of this, I was also tired and doing shorter trips than I would have liked. Upon receiving this, the size of my bag and weight dropped dramatically. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to decrease weight and stay extra warm at night. I was worried about staying warm in a quilt and was shocked by how incredible this was!

Game Changer

I’ve used this bivy for over five years on more than 20 trips. I’ve definitely been made fun of for sleeping in a “coffin,” but truly, there’s no better system for going light. What makes it so great is the bathtub-style waterproof material around your feet. I’ve paired it with a tarp in some pretty extreme, wet weather, and it has held up every time. Yes, it’s small, and if you’re claustrophobic, a bivy might not be for you. But if you’re interested in trying a lighter sleep system, do yourself a favor and grab one of these to see if it works for you. I haven’t regretted it.

Love it!

Awesome Quilt, super warm and superior quality.

The Real Deal

This is my 11th quilt, and my best. Incredible loft, and the overstuff is apparent…especially in the foot box. Pad attachment system is brilliant, effective, and easily adjustable. Neck baffle is unobtrusive when not needed, and very effective when temps drop. Mine is 900 FP (no additional fill), standard length and width. I’m 5-11, 170, and this size is right for me. Can pull it up to my hairline when fully stretched out, and easily over my head when on my side w knees tucked. Width is fine for me, especially given how the attachment system and secondary hooks keep it secured. It packs nice and small. Min temp I’ve seen so far was 36. I wore lightweight baselayer top and bottom and thick socks and was snug as a bug (on an R5.4 pad). So I consider the 30-deg rating accurate, and probably a comfort rating for me, with margin. Buy once, cry once. This quilt is excellent.

Flex 30* quilt

Just returned from a 5-day hike where my new quilt got its first use. Night time temps got down to the high 30s and 40s. Kept me warm; it's so light and cozy and packs down easily into the bottom of my backpack.

Made it through 130 camping days on the pacific crest trail and still rolling.

I don't write reviews. I felt the need to review this one because it was my metaphorical rock while hiking the pacific crest trail. I have used this quilt as low as 23 Fahrenheit and have been extremely pleased that it has survived the distance and travel I have put it through. It has always been very warm when paired with a well insulated sleeping pad. I washed it with down wash when the trail was over and it looks like a new quilt still. Very little down shed. If I could give this a 100/5 I would.

Ultralight comfort

This bivy is my new go to. Paired with a light tarp this shelter is extremely light and takes up very little space in your pack. Highly recommend

Nice!

The attachment system takes a little getting used to but works really well. Nice surprise—I love the button to close the quilt around your neck…The material around it makes it easy to find and use in the middle of the night. Got two ounces of overstuff and love the result.

I'm a Believer

I have been backpacking since 1988 and I have watched the quilt phenomenon develop for the last 20 years or so with skeptical interest. As a cold sleeper, I had doubts that a quilt would be warm enough and keep out drafts enough for me to sleep in cold weather. Anyway, I finally took the plunge and ordered the Sawatch for high mountain backpacking where the lows are often near freezing, even during summer. The first night I had the bag I slept out in my backyard right after a snow storm had blown through. The conditions were brisk and breezy with temps right around freezing. I laid out a ground cloth, Exped 6.5R sleeping pad and my Sawatch. I was dressed in thin fleece tights, sun hoody and a beanie. I fell asleep in the cool, fresh air and slept like a baby. When I woke up at 2am, the bag was covered in frost, but I was still toasty warm! Adding a tent, I should be good for anything the mountains can throw at me until winter sets in. I was impressed with the lack of drafts and I didn't even use the pad attachent cords. Excellent product.

Absolutely wonderful...

This is such a fabulous quilt - the weight in comparison to enlightened equipment to the actual warmth - a true warmth rating. Love this thing!

Rotisserie sleeper approved

I roll around all night and this quilt kept me warm and draft free regardless of my sleep position. I love how versatile, light, and warm it is.

Light, warm, perfect for adventure

This is the best hiking gear investment I’ve made in the last few years.
Whether sleeping on the beach, in the mountains, or in the desert, this quilt has always kept me warm and toasty — without ever making me sweaty.
The attachment system is very well designed and works exceptionally well.
I really appreciate the fantastic quality and craftsmanship of this gear.
Thank you, Katabatic.

Delivery time too long

I ordered this will I was travelling in the US - I hike a section of the Appalachain Trail and used this quilt so I ordered one. It arrived in my brother’s house in New York hours after I left for the airport. I live in Amsterdam

Perfection

Purpose built with attention and care no other quilt brand for me. I love my new warmer weather blankie!

Super warm & versatile

The Flex 15 quilt plus some layers kept me cozy warm snow camping when temps dropped to a frigid 8 degrees F overnight. Our snow camp leaders had warned me that it wouldn't be warm enough (they said we all needed 0 degree down bags)--but this quilt, with a 7R pad and a closed-foam pad did great. Granted, I did wear layers under it (merino wool long underwear + Insulated pants/AD 190 hoodie) + a down hood over a merino wool beanie) and I had a hot water Nalgene bottle in the foot box to warm the bag up early in the night--but I was pleased just how warm I was all night long. No drafts, either; the clip-in system worked (wide regular version of the bag and I'm 5'8/150 lbs, so I could pull it under me and still feel able to move around in it, and have space in the footbox to keep essentials from freezing.)

I've had the Flex 15 in less extreme conditions, too--several nights in fall with below-freezing temps (frost on the tent) with just long underwear, and 40-degree desert nights. In both cases, I unclipped the quilt to cool down a bit and was comfortable that way.

This will be my go-to quilt for almost all my backpacking trips in the LA mountains and the Sierras--where night time temps can vary between the low 50s to mid-20s all through the summer. It's great that it's not super bulky, so I don't feel bad carrying it even during warmer times for peace-of-mind just in case temps drop or winds pick up. (I have a 20 degrees Sierra Designs quilt which isn't anywhere near as warm, and a 30 degree REI down bag, which I will now only use for friends to come with me.)
