This is this best winter puffy ever made for moderate conditions
The jacket is very light and warm. I am in Chicago and the winters can be brutal and so far I've been using it without zipping it as it gets super warm. Looking forward to test it once we hit the negatives (F)! One suggestion I have for the Katabatic team is to add inside pockets for the next gen. I do feel I am missing those.
I sized up due to it's tighter fit and it fits good. It's a great jacket and is quality made by a quality company. Stitch work was good. Materials are solid.
This jacket has so much more fill than similarly priced products of major brands that its not even the same category of product. Its also lighter and more well built. It got down to about 25 degrees F and I couldn’t wear the jacket and be in the sleeping bag because I was sweating. My only suggestion is add a drop pocket to a future iteration of the Tin Cup.
Saved my b***t on the Sierra ski traverse. Sleeping bag was inadequate for cold temps so had to sleep in the puffy. Incredibly warm for its weight. Simple without any unnecessary bells and whistles. IMHO it is the best puffy for its weight, warmth and price.
Trim fit: Designed for use over a light baselayer or midlayer. If you are near the cusp on sizes and would like to be able to use it over a warmer/bulkier layer, or prefer a roomier fit, you’ll want to size up.
