Pertex Quantum Ripstop .85oz/yd

We use this ultralight Pertex Quantum as the shell fabric on our sleeping bags. Pertex Quantum fabric is down proof, very breathable, and features the best DWR treatment we have seen. This fabric’s low weight and high thread count give it a soft hand that allows our premium down to loft better than a heavier, stiffer fabric would. You get the best of both worlds: reduced weight and increased loft and warmth. While this advanced material is very strong for its weight, care should be taken to protect it from abrasion and tears.

Pertex Fabrics

Pertex Quantum Taffeta

This Pertex Quantum with a plain weave makes for a silky soft liner fabric on the inside of our sleeping bags. Weighing in at 1.0oz/yd, this fabric is lightweight but strong, and features the same excellent DWR finish that comes on all our Pertex fabrics.

Pertex Quantum Nano Ripstop .9oz/yd

We use this version of Pertex Quantum for the shell on our bivy sacks. Slightly heavier than the fabric we use on our sleeping bags, it has increased abrasion resistance and tear strength. The excellent DWR treatment ensures long lasting weather resistance while maintaining excellent breathability.

Pertex Endurance Ripstop 1.3oz/yd

We use Pertex Endurance on our Blackwelder 0°F for increased weather protection. Pertex Endurance features an ultralight membrane with a durable nylon face. This membrane provides increased protection from external moisture while remaining highly breathable, even at low temperatures.

900 Fill Power Goose Down

We use the highest quality 900 fill power goose down for our sleeping bags and hoods, giving them the most loft and warmth for the least weight. Goose down has many advantages over synthetic insulations. In warm temperatures goose down allows heat to pass through, giving it a wider comfort range than synthetic insulation. The down can be moved around in its baffles, allowing you to adjust the amount of insulation based on conditions. With use, synthetic insulation breaks down, losing loft and warmth. As a result a down filled product has a life span many times that of a synthetic filled product, making down a much better value.

850 Fill Power Water-Resistant Goose Down

We are pleased to offer 850 Fill Power hydrophobic goose down. This down has been treated to provide additional resistance to unwanted moisture. In conjunction with our highly water-resistant shell materials, our hydrophobic down provides extra piece of mind, and dries faster than untreated down if it does get wet.
Is this a miracle water-proofing that will allow you to sleep out in the rain or dunk your bag in water with wild abandon? No. Will it give you extra protection and help maintain loft in damp conditions? Absolutely!
Our water-resistant down is Bluesign® approved, so you can rest assured that it is safe for the environment and human health. Produced for us here in the U.S. by Allied Feather.

Ultralight Goose Down

Silnylon 1.4oz/yd

Our Silnylon is a 30 denier nylon ripstop that has been double coated with silicone. This silicone impregnation creates a fabric waterproof to 2 psi, as well as increasing its tear strength. With a finished weight of only 1.4oz/yd this fabric is very strong for its weight, perfect for the floor of our lightweight bivys.
